WHY ALWAYS BALOTELLI!?

City 3-2 Tottenham.

Was hugely impressed with today’s match, and the majority of the players. The player that really shone out to me in this match was Micah, his solid defence, and quick pace was outstanding. The fact that Bale switched to the other side of the goal to avoid him proves this. The one thing everyone was talking about after the match was Balotelli stamping on Scott Parker's head (!). After watching various replays of the event, I genuinely think Parker fell over after the ball hit him, then Balotelli stumbled over as he was being pulled back by Luka Modric. The referee didn’t book this, whether that was because he thought it was nothing, or didn’t see it is another story. The first goal in the 58th minute from Nasri was certainly worth the wait. After the first goal, we developed a sudden confidence, and our attacking force became very powerful. Lescott then doubled the advantage by scrambling into the goal on the floor with the ball behind him! Moments later, spurs fought back. A terrible attempted back header to clear the ball, by centre half Savic, gave Defoe the chance to race around Hart and hoofs the ball into the net. Following that Bale received the ball at the edge of the goal and sent it soaring past Hart and in the net. At this point, both teams played evenly with the ball being sent up and down the field. Then there was Lescott elbow in the face of Kaboul, not quite certain why that occurred. And of course, following that, the controversial ‘Stamp’ Balotelli pulled off. Lescott and Balotelli seemed fairly bemused by this. When the four minutes extra time was announced, the race was on. Bale brought things back to life by bursting through the centre of the field, skipping around city’s defenders with ease; luckily he missed the strike, only inches of the post. Balotelli then lead King into fouling him in the penalty box. It was Balotelli who got the chance to shine as he approached the penalty spot (at this point I had to look away through stress!) Of course he took the penalty beautifully, with ease as usual. He was totally composed.

Now three points clear of United, and eight points clear of Spurs. I think we played excellently, and our 3-2 win was totally deserved. We certainly need to do something about that Savic though...
